Zombie Radio Show Cast and Crew
Here are just some of the awesome talents that go into creating the Zombie Radio Show podcast! More will be added as survival permits;
James Mathers (Jimmy Rudolph, co-writer, co-producer)
It’s not easy being Jimmy Rudolph, but if anyone can accomplish this sad but crucial feat, it’s James Mathers. Not only does Mathers supply the silky smooth vocals of our favorite slime-ball and jazz enthusiast, he also co-writes and co-produces the show. Sure, he could enjoy the fruits of a varied and distinguished career, bouncing his granddaughter on his knee and harassing waiters at the early bird buffet. But instead he spends his Saturdays at Salerno’s of Burbank, coming up with sick things to do with zombies. Interventions can be scheduled in the comments section.
James Mathers began his professional acting career in 70s San Francisco working at theater venues including The Magic Theater and Bay Area Playwright’s Festival, with writers and performing artists John O’Keefe, Sam Shepard, George Walker and others. He also wrote, directed, edited and produced industrial/educational films and A/V productions.
In New York in the 80s Mathers was a member of the Manhattan Class Company, performing on New York stages and in regional theater. Off -Broadway Credits include Curse Of The Starving Class, Crime & Punishment, Happy Birthday Wanda June, Henry & Dad, and Spiral. Regional Credits include Desire Under The Elms, Lion In Winter, Dylan and Our Town. His film credits include The Right Stuff, Fire Down Below, Alcatraz, Voyager and more. TV and New Media credits include Cold Case, ER and others, most of daytime TV, MOWs, internet short-form content, video games for xBox, PlayStation and more. You may have seen James most recently in the Hyundai Super Bowl Ad. Look for him in the upcoming feature film “7500″. Mathers now resides in Hollywood where he continues to work as a writer/actor/producer.
In addition to his stellar work as an actor, James Mathers is also an author. Look for his e-books Henry and Dad and Cindy’s Eyes on Amazon.
Angelle Haney Gullett (J-Bo)
When Zombie Radio Show began casting, we put out the call far and wide for actresses to portray Jimmy’s murderous ninja sidekick. We had our pick of some of the greatest voice over actresses of our generation clamoring to play the role. But this other chick kept killing them, so we just hired her instead.
Angelle Haney Gullett is a writer, actor, and voice artist who believes that, with sufficient firepower, all things are possible. Raised by hippies and bikers in the American Rustbelt, she is always looking for new ways to monetize her anger. Her feminist awakening came when she found out she could not join the Special Forces due to her ovaries. (Although, to be fair, her ovaries did have a prior felony conviction.)
Angelle began both her acting and writing career at the Dayton Playhouse, and now lives and works in Los Angeles with her husband, two cats, and their beloved ’84 Cadillac. She has distinguished herself for years as a charter member of the LA-based Writer’s Group, where her amazing screenplays, uncanny structural sense and versatile cold-reading skills have secured her a place in the hearts of her fellow writers and actors.
Angelle and J-Bo seem made for each other. The producers of Zombie Radio Show marvel over a picture of Angelle as a child wielding an AK-47, and surviving the apocalypse was a key part of Angelle’s upbringing. When the zombies actually emerge from their moldy cradles, Angelle’s house is the first place we’ll go, certain to find plenty of canned goods, spare rounds of ammo, a machete or two, and a bucket of decoy brains. Today, Angelle enjoys telling stories that feature hookers, monsters, corsets, and knives. If you meet Angelle and realize that she is not, in fact, Ripley from Alien, for the love of God, don’t TELL her.
Craig Sabin (co-writer, co-producer, creator)
Walking down the streets, you wouldn’t give Craig Sabin a second glance. Father, husband, former PTA president and YWCA basketball coach, Starbucks aficionado and lover of Coca-Cola, Sabin is a study in normalcy. You’d never know, as he bores you with his advocacy for public schools, that he’s imagining you as a zombie and thinking of funny ways to kill you.
Born in Florida, Sabin studied drama at NYU and soon pursued a career in screenwriting. He co-founded “This!”, the sketch comedy/improv group, and acted in many low-budget horror films, including Slime City and the just-released sequel Slime City Massacre He has achieved some success as a screenwriter, but none of his works have been produced as of this writing, and he would appreciate it if you stopped asking.
Sabin is the co-creator, with Bari Willerford, of 5 Minute Horror, a short-form horror website, and has written two movies for the site, The Accomplice and Supersex
Zombie Radio Show is Sabin’s id gone wild. Set in NYC, where Sabin spent his formative years, the central conceit of the series is that if zombies did indeed exist, New Yorkers would deal with it the way they deal with muggers, traffic and garbage strikes. They’d complain and carry on, accepting horrific bloodshed and brain-spillage as just another quirk of big city life, and still preferable to Hoboken. “Sure, you got your zombies, but what’re ya gonna do?”
Currently, Sabin has three screenplays under option. When not in the midst of a rewrite, he works his screenplay consultation business Script Quack, moderates for the LA-based Writer’s Group, and adores his wife and daughter. Those kidnapped kids he keeps in the crate in his cellar are for medicinal purposes. Like we said. Normal.
Robin Greenspan
Robin has been described by the Hollywood Reporter as “a keen observer of behavior, both comic and poignant.” She wrote for and starred in the feature film, “Girl Play” alongside Dom Deluise and Mink Stole which won several film festival awards and achieved theatrical and DVD distribution. She wrote and starred in the original sketch-comedy show “In Thru the Out Door” for Showtime and appeared as a stand-up comedienne on Comedy Central’s “Out There in Hollywood.” She has performed her original comedy at the prestigious Just For Laughs International Comedy Festival in Montreal, toured the US with her act and recorded a solo comedy CD entitled “Totally Naked” (Uproar Ent.) She has also written/co-written and performed in several original stage productions, including her critically acclaimed one-woman show, “Kickin’ Hard,” which played to sold-out houses at the HBO Workspace in Hollywood. Her most recent screenplay, “Asleep at the Wheel,” is set for production with director/producer William Chartoff (Rocky Balboa, The Mechanic) at the helm and actor Donald Sutherland to play a lead role.
Lacie Harmon
Lacie Harmon hails from New York (alright, New Jersey.) TV credits include HBO’s “Arliss” and a co-starring role on Nickelodeon’s “Kenan and Kel.” Harmon enjoyed a starring role in William Chartoff’s art film “Colored Balloons”, which won the Toronto and Houston Film Festivals in 1992, and a supporting role in Eyes of the Serpent, a B-Movie in which hers was the only character to remain clothed throughout. She has written or co-written four autobiographical plays over the past three years, including “Real Girls,” which played in 1999 to SRO audiences for seven weeks at Hollywood’s Actors’ Circle Theatre. Other Los Angeles theatre acting credits include Kennedy’s Children at the Tiffany Theatre, Girls Night Out at the Two Roads Theatre, and Sexual Perversity in Chicago at the Gem and Heliotrope Theatres.
John Rixey Moore
John Rixey Moore lives all alone high in the cold, subfusk gloom of the Los Padres National Forest, where, after a long career in soap operas and over 460 network commercials, he writes, probably huddled in the darkness near a single candle and scratching out his memoirs with fingerless gloves. His recent memoir of combat experiences in Vietnam, entitled Hostage of Paradox, has been nominated for a 2012 Pulitzer Prize, the Colby Prize for best military book of the year, and the USA Books award for best book of the year. The sequel, called Company of Stone, is available currently for pre-buy at Amazon and is a memoir of his experiences immediately after the war–a period of both inward and outward exploration, when he spent several months in a Scottish monastery and the rest of that year working as a rock drill operator in a large industrial gold mine in Canada
